One typical plant here is the small soapweed or bear-grass (Yucca glauca) from North America.

A captivating yellow peony also grows here (Paeonia wendelboi). It is a new species first described by colleagues at Botaniska. Its Swedish name means Persian sulphur peony. It comes originally from northwestern Iran.

Bulbs and tubers from South Africa grow in the bed along the east wall. They just manage to survive out of doors in the Swedish climate. Here you can also see the blue African lily (Agapanthus praecox), pineapple flower (Eucomis comosa) and species from the genus Gladiolus.
